If you’ve missed the newborn stage for your baby photography, don’t worry. There are many great milestones to capture. It’s true that baby’s are very sleepy and curled up in the first 15 days, but not everyone is after this style of baby photo. Open eye shots are just stunning, so waiting until after six weeks is a great time to capture, when bubs reaches up to your faces and maintains eye contact with you. Anytime from 6 weeks to 6 months is perfect for baby photo shots on belly and in mum and dad’s arms. After that, we can capture baby sitting up or pulling up onto furniture, and of course, the 12 month milestone bubs is usually on the go, or very close to, so we can head outdoors for something a little different. We would recommend newborn or six weeks, depending on your preference, then a catch up session at around 9 months (very cute age to photograph children) and then a session when bubs is running around, perhaps a family outdoors portrait shoot.
It’s never too late, and each stage holds it’s own special benefits.
